Rujaya Palattanavit (Note)

Lighting Designer

From the young age, my family encouraged me to try new things like music or sports, but the only thing that stuck with me is arts, naturally the interest progressed into me studying to be an architect.

The place I was born
Bangkok is my hometown but London was the place that I found my aspiration and started my lighting adventure.
It was amidst the financial recession which doubled up the challenges.

Things that mystify me
Moving back to Bangkok make me see my birthplace from a new perspective. Bangkok is historic and new, exciting and exhausting, beautiful and bewildering. No wonder others flock to move in while its residence savors every chance to get away.

The book that moved me
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
‘It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye’

Guilty pleasures
Chocolate, movies from 90’s and Netflix

My all-time dream
To travel the world and may be baking with Sadaharu Aoki.
